Homemade Custom Monograms

Who doesn't love a good monogram? I am becoming slightly obsessed with them... I would probably monogram my toilet paper y'all... I like them THAT much, don't judge.

Anyway... Those three little letters can get kinda pricey, but there is nothing that says "No, I didn't just throw your gift together at the last minute" quite like a monogram...

BUT.... I am the queen of the last minute. All my best papers in college were written the night before they were due, and my house will be ready for company about 2 minutes before you show up... but hey, I can work under pressure, right? Well, this little tutorial will help with those last minute gifts, and make them look not so last minute.

First things first... get a PicMonkey membership. It doesn't cost a lot and it is a very useful little tool.

Start on PicMonkey under the "Collage" section. I chose the "square deal" 4x4 layout so that I would have 4 monograms to work with.

Next click on the "swatches" tab and add the ones you like. You can also upload your own swatches so get creative!

Save the file that way, and reopen it under the "edit photo" section. Here you can add labels. Change the colors and play with the different looks...

The last step is to add your actual initials. Pick any font you want! The ones I used from right to left are Ecuyer Dax, Playball, Bilbow Swash Caps, and Meie Script. Change the color and play with different size letters to get the look you want!

After I was happy with it, I printed them, cut them out and made a few little things.

I started with a blank gift bag, a pretty little notebook and a click pencil. I added monograms to the front of the bag and notebook with Scotch Mailing Tape. For the pencil, I used some 22guage jewelry wire and wrapped it around the pencil. Then using the tape again I taped the monogram I wanted to use to the wire.

How adorable are these??

I don't know a teacher or a student who wouldn't be thrilled to receive this little gift bag of goodies.

(The pencil is perfect for a teacher because after teaching middle school for five years, I was lucky to have the stub of a chewed-on pencil left.... They won't be able to steal your monogrammed flag pencils!)

Hope y'all enjoyed and have a great day!
