So, I've been gone...

Hey Y'all! Sorry for my major absence... We have had a very bust summer. Three vacations later... (I know poor me!) we are finally home, the laundry is almost done and all the things that broke while we were gone (The front door lock, the refrigerator, the television) are all back in working order.... Life is almost back to normal. And I am back! I'm not going to lie, its been a nice little break. I love sharing things with y'all, but sometimes it's nice to do something and not think "Oh gees, I gotta take a picture of this for my blog."

But! I am glad to be back and I am ready to dazzle you with creativity! Haha...

Today, I wanted to share with you a little bit of what I am hoping for in the design of my own home. When we got married and bought our house, I really had no idea what my "style" was. I saw things I thought would look good together and I bought them. Six years later... I have a better handle on what I want and what I like.

These are picture from when we first moved into the house. Not bad at all, actually when I look back at these pictures, I still enjoy the things I see.

The things that hits me when I look at these pictures is.... DARK! We didn't paint immediately when we moved in. We kept the paint colors that were here because it was cheap and easy. I decorated around those colors. Now, I lean towards white, white and more white. I want bright, clean and airy with a touch of shabby vintage. So... we are working on it. Little by little the house is taking on my "dream" house quality.

We've painted most of the rooms in the house now, and I've painted a lot of my furniture to be what I want it to be. I am getting there... The next step is going to be painting the mushroom brown color that covers every wall in our main living area. I cringe at the thought of all that painting, but it's gotta be done.

Here is a quick look at the eat-in area of my kitchen. I painted that table and chairs as well as the walls. No more orange!! Haha...

Since taking this picture, I've also flipped that rug... The back side was just plain linen and I LOVE the clean look of it.

I've also updated our bedroom. You can see that here

I would say my style is country chic. And I can't wait to show you the updates as they come.

Thanks for reading and I'm glad to be back!
