The last time I did a chalkboard tutorial, it became one of my most popular posts. So I decided to give y'all another tutorial for your home chalkboards. Today's post is how to draw 3 different chalkboard banners.
Nothing adds charm to your chalk art like a pretty banner. They can be used to say anything you want. They can be the main focal point of your drawing, or simply used as part of a more elaborate piece.
Today we will cover three different banners ranging from easy to difficult. The best way to perfect these banners is to first try drawing them on a piece of paper. Draw them over and over again until you are comfortable with the steps. Then move on to your chalkboard.
And remember... Chalk is SO forgiving. Keep a wet rag nearby to erase any mistakes and try, try again!
The first banner we are going to try is the Straight Banner. This one is easy and can be used in almost any style artwork from vintage to "hipster" :)
Here are the steps....
Voila!
The second banner we will look at is a bit more complicated, but also a bit more forgiving because it is wavy and doesn't require straight lines or exact lengths.
Here are the steps...
This one is one of my favorite to use and looks GREAT with other things around it.
The final banner for today is the Double Wavy Banner. This one can get a little bit more complicated, but is a bit more versatile the the single wavy banner. If I could give you one tip to this one... Keep your two text spaces close. One on top of the other.... if they are too far apart, it will look strange and be harder to connect.
Here are the steps....
These are great ways to spice up your chalkboard art and they are pretty easy to duplicate. Post questions in the comments below if you have any and I'd be happy to answer them!
Remember.... start on paper, and then go to your chalkboard...
and...
KEEP PRACTICING!
I also wanted to show you my latest chalkboard art. Last year's Valentine chalkboard was pretty popular... so check out this years!
Hope y'all have a GREAT DAY!
