Are you done now? Good... So, I ordered a ridiculous amount of fold-over elastic for headbands for Baby Girl...
See... I told you, don't judge. It was cheap and I couldn't decide on colors, so I got them all... If I don't use it for headbands for her, I'll make some for me and as gifts...
Anyway! I wanted to show you how I make my headbands... I have seen a ton of tutorials out there, but almost all of them use glue, and I am just not into glue on a headband. With my luck, the dang thing will break the day we are getting ready for some big event that I really want her to be wearing an adorable headband for. Traumatic..... I KNOW!
So, I sew mine.... But even if you don't have a sewing machine, you can do this!
1. I start by measuring out 13 inches of elastic. This is the average size of a newborns head. You can change the sizes depending on the age group you are making it for.
2. I also cut out a piece a little longer than an inch.
3. I overlap the ends of the 13 inch piece about 6/8th's of an inch and sew both ends down.
4. This gives you a loop or hole.
5. I then slide that extra piece into the loop on both sides.
6. and I sew it down to the headband.
7. It should look like this.
8. DONE.... See told you that was easy...
9. The reason I put the extra piece on there is to slide the alligator clips that hold my bows onto the headband. That way, this headband is totally interchangeable with any bows that I make so I get more use out of them!
