I Can DIY: Anthropologie Inspired Wire Earrings

A few weeks ago I started a board on Pinterest called I Can DIY. My goal for this board is to pin things that I think I can recreate or DIY. I always find things and think.... "I can totally make that..."

But then I forget about it and it never gets made. So, this is my first "I Can DIY"

I found these wire earrings on Anthropologie

There are things I love about these, and things I don't love...

I love the simplicity of these earrings. They make a statement without being heavy or overly flashy.

I am NOT a huge fan of the blue stone. I don't wear a ton of blue, and I just wasn't feeling it...

So...

I decided to DIY myself a pair of these earrings.

The materials I used:
Round Nose Pliers
Gold 22 Gauge Wire
Vintage Green Milk Glass Beads
from WhoKnowsWhat Etsy shop
(She has the BIGGEST selection of vintage beads and findings out there at great prices!)

Instructions:

1. I started with two lengths of wire and straightened them out as best I could. I then placed the beads right in the middle o my length of wire. (I made my earrings a bit shorter than the inspiration earrings... they were a bit too long for me.)

2. Using your pliers, bend the wire up, creating a "U" shape around your beads.

3. Clip your wire to your desired length, leaving enough extra length to make a hoop on the shorter end and a post on the longer end.

4. There are two ways to do this step, you can wrap the wire into a loop like I did, (There are great video tutorials on how to do this all over the Internet, this is a good one) Or, you could just make a simple loop using your round nose pliers.

5. Again with your pliers, bend the post down to meet your loop. Thread it through and clip the extra wire. I also make a tiny bend in the post to help keep it secure. Sometimes when you are clipping wire it can leave a jagged edge that can poke you, to fix this just use a nail file and file your wire end down to make it smooth.

There you have it! Your very own Anthro Inspired Wire Earrings!

I really like the way these turned out... They make great gifts as well!
