Who doesn't love these vintage Coca Cola crates? They are SO useful, inexpensive and just plain adorable. So today, while we here in the south wait for our first snow of the season, I thought I'd share a few of my favorite ways to use these vintage treasures.
First of all, I'll share how I have personally used them in my own home. I am sorry that these pictures aren't the best, but my camera is on the fritz and the snow clouds have stolen the natural light from outside.
One of my favorite ways to use a coke crate in my home is as a picture frame. This one sits on a shelf in my livingroom holding a photo of Little Man.
Another way I use these in my home is to hold firewood. Our fireplace is a working, wood-burning fireplace. We love sitting in front of this fireplace on a cold nigth and watching a movie.
The final way I use old coke crates in my home is not as unusual or creative, but it is still beautiful. These make great serving trays.
I also wanted to share with you a few of my favorite ways others have used these old coke crates.
1. This small chest has used the crates as drawers. This piece would be adorable in a child's room or as storage in a bathroom. Image found here
2. This chandalier is to DIE for! How creative and beautiful. Image found here
3. This pet food bowl is by far my favorite. I have seen these things used so many ways, but this is simply the best. Pet food bowls can be such an eye sore, but these make me want to get another dog! Image found here
These vintage coke crates are great additions to any home decor. They are easy to find, and inexpensive.
Here is the breakdown....
Cost: After looking on Etsy, E-bay and at local antique stores, it seems the average cost is about $30.
Where to get them? You can find many of these on Etsy, but my favorite places are always local antique stores. That will also save you a little money becasue you wont have to pay shipping!
How to clean them: The best way I've found to clean these is with just plain old soap and water. You don't want to damage the paint with harsh cleaners. However, some of these can be pretty yucky... If you are planning to use these to serve food, I would probably seal it with either poly or a wax.
Pinterest has so many beautiful images using these crates. I hope you enjoyed my little round-up!
Have a GREAT day!
P.S. IT'S FINALLY SNOWING!
